🤍 Summary 🤍

⚠️Content Warning: Bullying, Domestic Abuse, Child Abuse, SA (Off Page), Substance use

Binding 13 follows Shannon Lynch, a shy and deeply troubled girl who transfers to Tommen College in Ireland, hoping to escape the bulling and abuse she has experienced throughout her life.
On her first day, Johnny Kavanagh, the school's popular rugby star accidentally hits her in the head with a rugby ball. Johnny feels guilty and begins looking out for Shannon, gradually becoming one of the few people she feels safe around

As their friendship develops into a slow burn romance, Shannon begins learning what it feels like to be cared for, while Johnny struggles with the pressure of his rugby career and the expectations placed on him.
To both of them, their relationship becomes a source of comfort, but they are both dealing with personal struggles that make opening up and trusting each other difficult.

Family Struggles ❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

Family is one of the most important and heart breaking parts of Binding 13. The characters home lives affect their relationships, confidence and ability to trust or open up to others, mainly Shannon's family.
Shannon grows up in an abusive household where her father, Teddy Lynch, creates an environment filled with fear and violence. Her mother, Marie, struggles to protect her children and make difficult decisions. Shannon's siblings, especially Joey, become important sources of protection and emotional support. Their family experiences are painful, and the children are forced to deal with problems that should never have been their responsibility.

However, Johnny comes from a loving and supportive family, but he still experiences pressure to succeed in rugby. His parents, especially his father have high expectations for his future.
Even though Johnny has a more stable home life than Shannon, he struggles with the fear of disappointing people and the pressure of protecting his rugby career.

🤍 My Rating and Review 🤍

Dates Read: 03/11/2024 - 13/11/2024
✦✦✦✦✦ - 5 Stars

I think I'm going insane. This completely broke my heart in the best and worst ways! Shannon and Johnny's relationship is so beautiful and I loved watching their friendship slowly turn into something more. Johnny is the sweetest, most protective love interest and Shannon deserves every bit of love and happiness she receives. Their story is incredibly emotional, especially seeing Shannon struggle with her family life and the bullying from her old school.
I love how this is more than just a romance and it involves those deeper topics I mentioned. It made me laugh, cry and feel so many other emotions including anger and the other things that were going on. The ending had me staring at the wall with nothing going on in my head (in a good way). This is defiantly a must read for those who want a beautiful story about first loves, friendship, found family and it's good for those who just want a cry. Please read the trigger warnings first <3
